I have been seeing so sharply recently that the pathway to understanding the heart and mind of God is not primarily based in our Fathers love for us but in our love for Him.
Prov 2:1
My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you…
It is when a son truly loves His Father his heart will receive his fathers wisdom. Hence the command to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength etc.
Sadly today our Christianity is so solely focussed on gratitude for what the Lord has done for us, will do for us, worshipping at a distance for His power and workings, obedience to His words and such, instead of the love of His nature and the ways of His heart.
We say we love God but reject meekness.
We say we love God but hold to impatience.
We say we love God but justify prejudice.
We say we love God but promote ambition.
We say we love God but reject gentleness,
Etc etc etc.
But to love God is to love these things of His basic nature above all till we embrace, imbibe and abide in them.
This is the heart of a son who loves his Father and therefore will more than hear the counsel of His Father but will be on the path to discover all God knows, (Prov 2:5b) gaining the mind of Christ who is the Logos and Wisdom of God.
